A Life Less Convenient

Welcome

Welcome back to the readers I know, and welcome to those who are reading here for the first time.

ALifeLessConvenient.com took a hiatus for a bit, and now, the site and a new edition of A Life Less Convenient: Letters To My Ex will be available from Homofactus Press.

During 2009 and 2010, I had the opportunity to work with a number of authors who were at all stages of their writing careers.  First, I edited Visible: A Femmethology. The number of excellent submissions prompted me to ask Homofactus to produce two volumes. The original plan was to publish only one book, but seeing the wealth of excellent LGBTQ writing inspired founders Jay Sennett  and Gwyn Hulswit to do the phenomenal amount of work required to publish two books for simultaneous release. For me, the work was an unusual opportunity to enjoy contact with a range of queer writers – over fifty of them – sharing their lives and their creative energy.

Next, Homofactus Press asked me to edit and to produce a final version of Kicked Out!. I worked with the anthology’s editor and activist Sassafras Lowrey with contributors on revising their pieces and re-organizing the book. It was a fantastic project for me to hone more editorial skills with a project that was not my own.

The first release of A Life Less Convenient: Letters To My Ex from Merge Press in 2006 is still available when used copies are posted on Amazon.com  (or other places that may carry used copies, which may or may not be online). Old copies, as I’ve seen, are not necessarily affordable and can reach the $200 range.

The upcoming edition of the book from Homofactus will include the old letters as well as some new material, including new letters and my preface.  Of course, I’ll be sharing a bit in advance here from the new stuff, and the site will include more thoughts on illness, wellness, relationships, treatment, food, writing, editing, teaching and more.
